BEAM robots

BEAM — Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics, Mechanics — is Mark Tilden's design school for small autonomous robots built from analog circuits rather than microcontrollers. Solar engines drive servos directly, sensors are wired straight into oscillators, and surprisingly lifelike behavior emerges from a few transistors. The closer you look, the more it feels like the robots are alive.

I built a small flock of BEAM walkers and rollers in the early 2000s. The build photos and circuit schematics for those are offline; if I find them I'll add them here.
